Not what it seems

Image taken with a full spectrum camera and infared light source above in an undisclosed location. This was a speculative hunt as it is an old house (mid Victorian) and the owners report the room as always feeling cold, which is why it is not used. Our image revealed a face peering in the window (top left pane) of a first story room.

We interrogated the room and the photograph. There is also another outline in the window which looks like either another window or a reflection of something in the room. Whilst it is difficult to consolidate a reflection in the glass when there was no light source (other than infared which is not visible enough to the human eye to cast a reflection) it is possible that this is a partial reflection of a painting on the opposite wall. We obtained no EMF readings or EVP activity in that room.

The temperature was lower than the rest of the house, but we suspect that this is because the room is not used , so the radiator was switched off.

The jury may be out on this one, but we feel this is a case of a self-perpetuating narrative. the room feels ‘creepy’ because it is not used and is on the North facing side of the house so is naturally colder as it doesn’t get as much of the sun. This has dissuaded the owners from using the room, so it has been shut off, become colder, nobody wants to go in there and it is now used as a storage cupboard. old paintings, broken chairs, dust and silence fill the room. Where there was once life there is now silence and as human beings we do like to fill a silence with something, so our minds fill it, in this instance with a creepiness that the owners could not put their fingers on.
